Pre-meeting "MINI-CLASSES"


Monthly Mini-classes are held for year long fly-fishing education

and may consist of casting, fly-tying, knots, gear, fly-fishing basics

and other various skills for fly-fishing success & enjoyment

Time: 5:30pm to 6:45pm (before the club meeting)


Facilitators: Lori Lee Collins & Larry Basham

Guest instructors will be assisting or leading!

These classes are free & open to club members and the public!

NEXT CLASS: Tuesday, Sept 8, 2026

 

TWO OPTIONS:

Beginning Casting:

  • Learn how to safely put a rod together and take it apart
  • Put on a reel (right or left handed?) & best way to run line through the eyes
  • Casting a loop, start & stop, pick-up-lay down cast

 

Casting Skills Development:

  • Try the FFI Bronze Level casting course
  • Cast to targets: 25, 35 & 40 foot distances
  • Roll cast to 25 feet

What's in a Vest & Waders and Boots

These  topics are especially helpful for those who are new to fly fishing and wondering what they should carry in their vest and what type of waders and boots they should buy. There will be displays and experienced members there to discuss what you really need!
